Founder and Managing Partner
Richard brings more than 25 years of UK and U.S. recruitment experience, having held senior roles within a global listed recruitment firm. He launched a specialist financial services practice in London, becoming the number-one producer across the UK and Europe. In 2005, he relocated to Washington, D.C. to build a new permanent recruitment division for the Mid-Atlantic region, where he ranked among the top 20 global revenue generators for permanent placements.
In 2023, Richard returned to the UK and subsequently founded Milne Partners. His international background and extensive finance and accounting network underpin his ability to deliver senior appointments and retained search mandates with a global perspective.
Experience
Richard recruits senior finance and C-suite leaders for organisations across the public, private, non-profit, and PE/VC-backed sectors. His clients range from high-growth startups to global corporations including Marks & Spencer, CBRE, Mars, HSBC, Barclays Capital, Whole Foods, McDonald's, and The Carlyle Group. His expertise covers roles such as CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, Head of Finance, Chief Audit Officer, Head of FP&A, Head of Tax, Treasurer, Financial Controller, and senior Audit & Tax Partner positions.
Personal and Professional Activities
Richard has been involved with several professional and charitable organisations, including the ACCA, Avon Cancer Foundation, and Junior Achievement. In the UK, he supports Prostate Cancer research.
He is a lifelong Arsenal supporter and enjoys rugby union, golf, and boxing. In his spare time, he is an enthusiastic Peloton rider, has completed two half marathons, and enjoys sporting autobiographies and time with his extended family.
